I don't have too much experiance with NAS but all the ones I have worked on are slow and/or very expensive.įor network storage, I just designate one system as the "server" and load it up with plenty of storage.Īt home and at work I have systems that are on all the time so it's easy to transfer stuff to them over the network. I don't, but from what I've read they are expensive and slow compared with USB external HDs. Its possible PM7 could have started something in there. In addition to above, the Available space remaining on D: *maybe* slightly less, im sure i had just over 15GB space left, but i could be wrong.

I think the next step is to change it to a LOGIC drive, but partitionwizard also states i have an error on D: drive and asks me to run the check file system, but this option is greyed out on the demo download i got off their site. I tried to check D: for errors and got this message So far, ive managed to get it like this, but im not sure what its supposed to be in Status and Pri/Log Also, its HIDDEN and a PRIMARY drive.įrom what i can gather from my laptop which has the same configuration, D: is meant to be a LOGIC DRIVE and UNHIDDEN. Notice that STORAGE which used to be called D:STORAGE, no longer has a file path. I clicked yes to allow it to fix it which took mere seconds. When i double clicked PM7, i got this message. When i got onto the desktop, i loaded up PM7 to see what it could read on the hard drive. Its showing up, but when i click on it, theres an error.

Ok, so far ive managed to get partitionwizard to boot up the PC and to change D drive back to NTFS, however, i still cant access it from the desktop.
Make sure you get the right one, hopefully you will see it listed as PqRPĬlick once in that box to select it and then click the button "Set Type".Ĭlose ptedit, remove the CD and restart your system buy holding down the CTRL and ALT bottons while pressing Delete. The boxes on the very left is the file type, the second one down where I circled should be your second partition. Type the following pressing Enter after each line: I'll use the letter D, chnage that letter if necessary. One of the last lines will show what drive letter the CD-Rom drive was assigned make a note of that letter. When DOS loads you will get a warning about not being able to identify the file system.

Thats just a basic boot CD I made with Windows 98 boot files, since you only hopefully need to use it once I didn't take much time with it.īurn that ISO to a CD as a disk image, then boot your system with it.Ĭhoose the option to boot with CD-Rom drivers because I was too lazy to make it all in the boot file. I already put it on a file hosting site and sent the user a link.
Thank you very much for the offer Andy, thats nice of you to offer and I will let you know if I need anything in the future. Unlike PM that is not supported, Partition Wizzard does not have the large drive limitations that PM does. If it worked, you can later use that same disk to make your partition changes after backup up your important data.Īlways do all your partition changes outside of windows. Select: Modify > Change Partition Type IDĭouble check to make sure you are selecting the right partition and then change it to type 0x07Ĭross your fingers and boot back into windows and see if you can access the second partition. Right click on the D drive, or the partition in question.

In the download section there is a free bootable CD, download that and burn it to a CD.īoot the system with it, it's linux based so it has a much greater mouse support than DOS. It's very similar to PM, in fact it looks like a copy of it to me. Here is a free partition resizing program called partition wizzard. This may be easier and kill 2 birds with one stone.
